Gérard Nöel, Vice-President Director General of the French Advertiser Association (UDA) unveiled the results of a joint WFA-UDA-funded doctoral research on the influence on economic growth of commercial communication expenditures. The analysis made it possible to construct an original mathematical model of correlation between advertising investment and macro-economic growth, showing in particular that a high rate of investment in media advertising plays a key role in invigorating economic growth.
Jacques Rogge, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), insisted on the need for advertising revenue for the very existence of the Olympic Games which rely on as much 90% of their funding from Broadcasting Revenues and sponsorship. Hence, the Olympic paradox, “ No advertising at the Games, but no Games without advertising.”
