I agree with Don. My Father’s second language is Japanese. I learned some since I was very young.2 months ago, I met a friend who had been starting in Japan for 6 years. Before I chose French, I was planning to learn Japanese from her. However, my parents didn’t agree with that. Even though Japanese is much easier that French ( my own idea) and I have some knowledge about it, it doesn’t mean I can learn it well. In Canada, I have no circumstance to help me to do so. I don’t have any Japanese friends to practice with. Finally, I chose French, simply because French is an official language in Canada. There are so many TV shows in French. As long as I want to learn, I have the advantages. I can learn from books, TV shows or even Ads. I am planning to go to Quebec in two years. I wish by that time, I could speak and write smoothly in French.
